about me

I have 20 years avid interest in analog/digital music production and recording combined with 26 years of personal guitar and bass playing, repairs and maintenance. I have always been involved with creativity most recently in the form of music, art, film and video and tabletop games. I dabble in applications like Photoshop CS, Poser, Reaper, and some digital desktop publishing.

I graduated from Coalhurst  High School and went straight into a full time job at a private fish plant. After a shot at university and a few minor labor jobs I decided I needed more out of life in terms of my career. I had completed a PC Technician certification program in spring of 2000 and began working as a retail Computer Technician at the Soft Shoppe in Lethbridge while continuing with my computer, electronics and web education.

I had since relocated to Edmonton in 2001 to continue my employment in the field as a Computer Technician at CompuSmart West End Technical Services and after working up to senior bench-tech and having CompuSmart close I went to work for MDG Canada as a depot technician in 2006. I relied heavily on my customer service assets when I was employed with Dell Canada in 2007 for Dell-On-Call as a Call Center Representative for fee-based software support and scheduled to re-certify my A+ and achieve the Dell+ proprietary certifications. Unfortunately Dell had closed their doors in Edmonton before that could be completed. I decided to try the Service Desk role at a 2 year contract as an IT Service Desk Analyst for Stantec Consulting here in Edmonton in 2008 up to August of 2010.

In March 2011 I enrolled in the Digital Audio Production program at Pixel Blue College in Edmonton. This gave me a large amount of skill and experience in Reaper, Cubase, Logic and ProTools digital workstation software and was an attempt to branch out of IT to help put some of my creativity to work to expand my job horizons into the audio and recording industry. I Graduated on August 16th 2011 and was hired at the Downtown Long & McQuade where I started as a Sales associate and in 12 months was promoted to Tech Services Coordinator in their Repairs department where I remained for another year. In September 2014 I accepted the new Indigo-Tech position promoting and selling Apple products in Chapters on the West end. I supplemented my retail wages as an Independent Consultant in a range of technical, musical, and retail environments including private recording studios. That Summer I secured a job with Sobeys Canada West in their Edmonton Points West HQ as a Business Support Technologist where I had an incredible team help me bridge my 3 year IT gap in less than 6 months.

When Sobeys closed their HQ and moved it to Calgary in early 2016 I took the summer to look for full time work and became a Tech-1 at Grant MacEwan University on their Technology Support Desk handling student and faculty support requests for Print Center, Desktops, Laptops, Smartphones, and AV equipment for labs and classrooms. The 8 month contract was very rewarding but left my financial obligations to accumulate so I kept looking.

August 2017 I obtained full time employment with Supreme Group LP as a Help Desk Technician in their brand new building in Acheson industrial park where I further developed my experience with servers and  PLC cnc systems. After 2 years, Supreme Group went through a restructuring in August 2019 and I was lucky to find employment with a Calgary recruiter, Computer Upgraders. This gave me exposure to a myriad of IT jobs and projects rolling out in Edmonton.

I started a Desktop Technician contract position through LongView Systems that was stationed at the North West Redwater Partnership in Gibbons, Alberta where I continue to learn and apply my skills.

I am always looking for new opportunities and I am currently studying for the CompTIA A+ 2019 exams.
